Soccer in the Schools
ABYSA’s Outreach program "Soccer in the Schools" reaches over 15,000 students (Kindergarten through 5th grade) each year in Asheville and Buncombe County schools. ABYSA’s professional staff works with area Physical Education teachers to take the school through a week of soccer during their normal P.E. classes. Since its inception in 2005, ABYSA’s Soccer in the Schools program has educated over 2,100 classes and has spent over 120 weeks working with local schools in an effort to promote healthy living.
The focus of the program is to provide students with a fun and engaging PE class, while educating them on the benefits of sport and exercise, and encouraging them to join an after school activity that will contribute to their health and well-being. The ABYSA Soccer in the Schools program understands the benefits of an active lifestyle, and through its programming, strives to establish healthy patterns of living that will continue into adulthood.
