Soccer in the Schools

ABYSA’s Outreach program "Soccer in the Schools" reaches over 20,000 students (Kindergarten through 6th grade) each year through Asheville and Buncombe County schools and many private and charter schools. ABYSA’s professional staff works with area Physical Education teachers to take the school through a week of soccer during their normal P.E. classes.  Since its inception in 2005, ABYSA’s Soccer in the Schools program has educated over 4250 seperate classes and has spent over 170 weeks working with local schools in an effort to promote healthy living and a passion for sport.

The focus of the program is to provide students with a fun and engaging PE class, while educating them on the benefits of sport and exercise, and encouraging them to join an after school activity that will contribute to their health and well-being. The ABYSA Soccer in the Schools program understands the benefits of an active lifestyle, and through its programming, strives to establish healthy patterns of living that will continue into adulthood.
