Spring soccer practices begin in late February, with games beginning March 11 for older players (U7 and above) and March 18 for players aged U4 through U6.) With more than 3,500 children participating each year, ABYSA Recreation Soccer is our largest program.  Because the emphasis is on fun and participation, it is the ideal environment for most kids.  This program is the entry point for children who are new to the game.  Experienced players who desire a more competitive environment should consider our HFC Academy, Challenge, and Classic programs.  In recreation we use fun games to develop basic skills, such as ball control and dribbling, and to further players’ enjoyment of the game. In the recreation program, the youngest age groups (U4-U6)  have both practices and games on Saturdays, while the older groups (U7-HS) practice one day a week and play Saturday games.

Recreation soccer is coached by volunteers. Our volunteer coaches use a curriculum made of fun and developmentally appropriate practice activities designed by ABYSA Director of Coaching and Player Development, Shane Weems.
