Instructions for Registering with Risk Management
for the 2014 – 2015 Seasonal Year

Who must register?

Coaches (Recreation, First Pillar, Academy, Challenge, Classic & Camp), Team Officials (Managers, Treasurers),Registrars, Board Members and Staff.

How do I Register? (Please print these instructions before clicking on the link below)

  • Go to the following link to begin: 2014-2015 Risk Management Registration
  • If you registered last year (for the 13-14 seasonal year) choose "This is my first registration in 2014-2015. I have previously registered with NCYSA." If it has been two years since your last background check then another one will be processed.

    • You will be asked to verify your information to continue.
    • You will need the following information to continue:

      • Your type of affiliation: NCYSA Member Association
      • Member Association Name: Asheville Buncombe Youth Soccer Association.
    • Choose the type of position.

      • Note: If you are a team treasurer please use "Team Manager".
    • Choose the correct level (Recreation, Challenge or Classic) and age group. If more than one team, choose all that apply.

      • If you are registering as a Camp Staff coach, please choose Recreation, Fall, U5 through U15, male & female.

 

If you are registering with NCYSA Risk Management for the first time choose "I have never submitted a Risk Management registration form to NCYSA before".

  • You will need to complete the Contact Information Portion of the Risk Management Application
  • You will be asked to verify your information to get continue.
  • You will need the following information to continue:

    • Your type of affiliation: NCYSA Member Association
    • Member Association Name: Asheville Buncombe Youth Soccer Association.
  • Choose the type of position.

    • Note: If you are a team treasurer please use "Team Manager".
  • Choose the correct level (Recreation, Challenge or Classic). If more than one team, choose all that apply.

    • If you are registering as a Camp Staff coach, just choose Recreation, Fall, U5 through U15, male & female.

 

I registered last year; do I have to register again this year?

Yes, you must register every year. The soccer calendar year starts in the fall and ends in the spring spring. Beginning in May, all coaches must register or re-register with NCYSA Risk Management for the next calendar year.

Is there a Deadline?

Yes, everyone must be approved by risk management before they can work with any children in our program. Specifically the following deadlines are in effect for these divisions:

  • Camp Staff – June 3rd
  • All ABYSA/HFC Full & Part-time Coaching Staff – June 20th (or when hired)
  • Classic Managers – June 20th (or when assigned)
  • Challenge Volunteer Coaches – July 15th (or when assigned)
  • Challenge Managers – July 15th
  • Recreation Coaches – August 1st for the Fall Season and February 15th for the Spring Season.

 

What happens if I don’t register?

You are not able to participate OR be rostered with your team until you have been approved by NCYSA Risk Management. In addition, for classic & challenge team officials (coaches and managers) all paperwork for your teams will be held up at the state office until you have been approved by risk management. This means that your team may not have its cards back in time for a pre-season tournament.
